Brampton Railway Station
Brampton Railway Station is under 10 minutes by car/taxi or can be walked to along 'The Dandy' footpath (just before S & S Railhead Garage) off Station Road. The path winds up to the railway station, walking through the wood and underpass in about 45 minutes. Here you can access trains into Newcastle and Carlisle or stop off at one of the towns or villages on route, such as Haltwhistle with its lovely open-air pool and Hexham with many shops and beautiful walks.
Many guests also use this railway line when walking sections of Hadrian's Wall and Brampton taxis can be contacted to drop off/collect if required.
Regular buses
Regular buses from The Sands, just at the end of Tree Road, or Brampton market place will take you into Newcastle or Carlisle and beyond. These local buses, such as the 685, from Brampton can also link in with the AD122 Hadrian's Wall bus at Greenhead, for those wanting to explore Hadrian's Wall on the Northumbria side of the border.
There is also the Border Rambler's bus, which can be joined (by car/taxi) at nearby Irthington for those exploring Hadrian's Wall around Carlisle.
There are also a number of local taxi companies in and around Brampton.
And if you are walking sections of the wall and carrying heavy bags, then we recommend Hadrian's Bags who will be happy to transport your bags for you, dropping them off and collecting them directly from Wall & Lakes holiday cottage.
