Brampton is a friendly market town, just off the A69, within the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria and just 2 miles south of Hadrian’s Wall and with The Lake District Park easily accessible. Not to mention surrounded by 3 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty/National Landscapes.
Surrounding the town is the gently rolling countryside of the Irthing Valley and Geltsdale, leading up to the rugged beauty of the North Pennies area of Outstanding Natural Beauty now known as North Pennies National Landscape. Here you will find sweeping moorland views, such as those from Geltsdale RSPB Bird Reserve, Hallbankgate, just 3 miles from your holiday cottage. As well as impressive, tumbling waterfalls, including England’s biggest – High Force in Teesdale just under an hour’s drive from Brampton.
It is also just over an hour by car to edge of The Arnside and Sliverdale Area of Outstanding National Beauty, which straddles the boundary of Cumbria and Lancashire. This area is famous for its amazing wildlife, stunning scenery, and superb walks.
In addition, The Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)/ National Landscape is nearby with Rockcliffe only 12 miles away. The area is of international importance for bird life and boasts a variety of landscapes including sand dunes, salt marsh and a wealth of rich agricultural land.
