Wall and Lakes cottage is perfect for families, the front kingsized bed splits into 2 small single beds and we can also provide the following, on request: travel cot (no bed linen); high chair; baby bath and steriliser. The cottage also has as standard, a fireguard, non-slip bath mat, optional night lights, board games and books, large front and back lawns, sunny patio, a quiet country lane away from busy roads, storage shed for any bikes/outisde toys you bring and many nearby family attractions...... “So what is there to do in and around Brampton for families”. Well absolutely loads!

Just a few miles outside Brampton and a fantastic day out for the whole family, any day of the week. They also have a whole programme of exciting opportunities during the school holidays with “May Madness, half term” and “summer fun at the farm”, as well as pumpkin picking in the autumn. In addition, to their fantastic play area and so many animals to see. A definite must for any young family to visit.

You can drive in about 5 minutes up to Talkin Tarn or enjoy a family walk along the dandy to the small Brampton railway station, across its stunning old iron railway bridge up to Talkin Tarn, you can find details of this walk on our website and in the cottage. Then walk the level path around the tarn, play in the playground for younger children, row out onto the lake, get involved in orienteering and other activities on offer. Then relax at the excellent tearoom, enjoying refreshments while you look over the tranquil lake and breath-taking scenery.

Hadrian’s Wall, Lanercost Priory trail to Birdoswald Roman Wall, Talkin Tarn, Gelt Woods and so many more amazing walks on your doorstep. Not to mention the cycle paths, again see our website for inspiration. Remember we have a cycle storage shed available for you to use as well 😊

On your doorstep and just north of Brampton. Rich in history, did you know it began in AD122 and is 73 miles long! Check out the ‘about’ section for more information and links re Hadrian’s Wall. Brampton really is The Gateway to Hadrian’s Wall. So near to Lanercost Priory; Birdoswald Roman fort, Vindolanda and many historical points of interest, with magnificent scenery and rolling countryside.
The Lake District National Park
Easily accessible from Brampton and there is lots of information in this website with Ullswater Lake under an hour from the cottage with its steamer and stunning walks. Also see my perfect location blog for ideas of places to visit in the Lakes as well as many other places.

Sands Centre Entertainment and Leisure centre and swimming pool
Check out its regular entertainment, gym, fitness programme and amazing new Swimming pool. Regular buses and trains to Carlisle or about 20 to 25 minutes by car.

Oh and don’t forget we have the Geltsdale RSPB bird reserve just a few miles outside Brampton. A really great walk, bird watching and invigorating day out for all the family. Call in at The Hallbankgate Hub, shop and café, and Belted Will Pub for great refreshments as well on the day.
